I don’t usually go to Parsons Pond but once a week, but was rained out before
getting to good mud last Saturday. Sunday was a plant excursion and didn’t
really count. Parsons Pond isn’t as good for shorebirds as it used to be. Two
of the three owners have ceased working anything that floods. Two thirds of the
shoreline now has a weedy margin. Lesser Yellowlegs don’t seem to be put off by
the weeds but were hard to spot among so much vegetation. Highlights yesterday
were another Osprey sighting and a couple of Dowitchers. The Osprey made two
attempts at catching something before heading off towards Brown’s pond, which
is stocked with bass. My best photos of the day were of a Fox Squirrel, which I
can’t share here.
