I braved the cold, wet weather this morning to visit the Garvin Brown Nature
Preserve. I was rewarded with a new life bird: the Northern Harrier! It was
gliding very slowly just above the tall grasses of the northernmost field. I was
able to identify it from this behavior, and by seeing the bright white spot on
its butt when it turned. After a few moments I witnessed it turn sharply and
dive below the grasses. A few moments later it appeared on a nearby fence post
with a meal! No photos because I left my camera in the car due to the rain.
