The surprise of the day was stepping outside the door to see a coot walking
down the drive! I have a couple of frog ponds in the yard, but nothing
suitable for a coot.
I checked a couple of spots for returning Louisiana Waterthrush, but no
luck. A Blue-headed Vireo was singing at Little Lick and tied my earliest
for the county.
I walked out the trail on the Laurel Co. side of Bee Rock. The Pulaski Co.
side is still closed for repairs due to flooding a couple of springs ago. It
was nice to see some of the early spring wildflowers and a West Virginia
White butterfly.
Not so nice was finding my first winter creeper for this area along the
trail.
