I’ve been mowing hay fields for close to 6 decades, including this very year,
and this is the first time I’ve even heard of the idea of beginning a hayfield
in the middle and working outward. Unless you’ve actually mowed hay, you
couldn’t know what an awful, backtracking mess one would have finishing up a
hay field begun in the middle or the clog up risk you’d have on each circle
cutting that hay you flattened out to get to the middle as a starting point.
Most fields are irregular in shape and most have a variety of obstacles, such
as ponds, thickets or a wood margin. Just no. I can’t recollect any instance of
ever hitting an adult bird while mowing. Fawns? Yes. But that would happen even
if one proceeded from the inside out.

The Corncrake, very good video, suggest click on. Hope it opens. Looks
similar to a rail, with bobwhite colors, but the Call-Sound, is something
else.
