Hi,,
Thank goodness we have our own woods to visit SIXTY PLUS ACRES . Last week
we went up the mountain and into a very moist swag. The moss was very deep
on logs and rocks, especially one large log spanning the creek. Very few
birds were astir, but the warblers will be coming in soon. And, oh my gosh,
flowers were up and some blooming: VIRGINIA BLUEBELLS, TROUT LILIES, SESSILE
TYRILLIUM,HARBINGER-OF-SPRING, TOOOTHWORT, SPRING BEAUTIES, ETC. PLUS, THE
RAMPS WERE UP AND HEARTY. In the yard we have: EASTERN TOWHEE, MOCKINGBIRD,
EASTERN PHOEBE, DOWNY WOODPECKER, HAIRY WP, RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER,
WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH, and all the other usuals. CAROLINA WRENS are
building nests, one under an eave on a downspout with moss spilling out
everywhere. I have a couple of new nest boxes to put up, so I had better
hustle.
