A trip to Christian County today produced some interesting birds. In the last 5 days the small lake has dropped significantly. It is almost half the size it was 5 days ago, however the number and variety of birds has continued to increase. Here are some of the species seen today. Merlin- (female) Black Tern- 14 Short-billed Dowitcher Greater Yellowlegs Lesser Yellowlegs Least Sandpiper Semipalmated Sandpiper Stilt Sandpiper Spotted Sandpiper Pectoral Sandpiper Solitary Sandpiper Killdeer Great Blue Heron Great Egret Green Heron Mallard Blue-winged Teal Wood Duck Canada Goose Earlier this week David Roemer and I found a female Pied-billed Grebe and 5 young. They were relocated today.
