Pleased to see our first Ruby throats buzzing the opening blooms on the
rhododendron in our front yard today. Freed a yellow throated warbler
from the bird netting that had been in place to keep the deer out of one
of the backyard tulip patches.
Whip poor will has adopted a 6 AM and 8:40 PM singing schedule. :)
Scarlet Tanager or Willow Flycatcher? The tanagers are back. In past
years I've noticed that he often ends his song with a "fitz burr" or "fitz
bew". Yesterday afternoon, I could hear a series of "fitz bews" coming
out of one of the wooded ravines. They were the only sounds I could hear
and there may have been 5 or 6 in a row.
Might that have been a Willow Flycatcher or just a variation of the
Scarlet's song?
Thanks for the suggestions about my "chewy, chewy, chewy chew" quandary.
