This afternoon with not much over a half hour of monitoring, I saw Harris's Sparrow at 2:55 and again at 3:30. Each time it hopped in from the left, sampled both the sunflower tray and cracked corn tray and hopped back to cover, all within 30 seconds. Without almost constant vigilance, it could easily feed with someone standing at the stakeout and escape observation. But the wind was probably why we didn't see it yesterday. It seems to be more wary of me than the White-crowned Sparrows and might be even more wary on a windy day. Some of the White-crowned Sparrows will continue to feed as I approach to add seed up until I get within less than 10 feet of them, but not the Harris's. I got some shots today showing it in the same frame as a House Sparrow and White-crowned Sparrow and a shot showing it from slightly behind. 4 new pics here - https://www.flickr.com/photos/123438032@N04/ Frank Lyne frank@xxxxxxxxxxx - near Dot in Logan County, KY ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============= When posting on BIRDKY, please close posts with your first and last name and your address (city or county). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To post on BIRDKY, send e-mail to: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS website at http://www.birdky.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS Photo Page to view photos of birds recently sighted in Kentucky: http://www.flickr.com/groups/kentucky_ornithological_society/pool * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison.
