I've been carrying my scope & camera with me every morning and scanning every tree top, despite ever waning hope of the Western Kingbird's return. This morning that extra vigilance paid off. I saw my first ever Merlin and got a few recognizable shots. Of the commonly reported raptors, Merlin was the only one I lacked on my life list. Also have seen all my life list raptors in Logan County. Yesterday I saw about a dozen Bobwhites near one of my tobacco barns. This morning I also saw a Yellow-billed Cuckoo and a Black-throated Green Warbler. We still have at least one hummingbird as of this morning.
