Today I followed the channel running in an almost straight line to the far end of the now dry McElroy Lake bed. The channel had a small cataract at the end, then widened into a small pond which emptied into a sink hole. There were 2 Ruddy Ducks in this little pond, tame enough to pose for photos. Other birds present in the channel or on the lake bed - Snipe, Greater Yellowlegs, 2 Coots, Mallards, Killdeer, Horned Larks, American Pipits, Savannah Sparrows.
