Several wrote me to say that my ducks are Wood Ducks rather than Blue-winged
Teals. I have changed my ebird report, but I will certainly still take my scope
along next time. I’m going to be checking the cattle on that farm for the next
couple of days anyway. Some other bird too far away to properly capture with my
little Canon sx-160 might be there. Since Parsons Pond has changed into a weed
field, I don’t see birds associated with water much any more.

After determining that my nephew Mark Lyne’s cattle were all present and
accounted for, I checked his 3 acre pond for birds. I already knew that there
were some young Mallards there, but I also saw a couple of ducks that are, as
best I can tell from my not great photos, Blue-winged Teals. Plumage didn’t
quite match any one field guide image, but I observed a white hip patch and
white at base of bill into throat. If that ID is questionable, I’ll remove
it. I’ll certainly be taking my scope along on the next trip down there for
better images if they remain.
