This morning when I put food out Jeeves was back in the field. I couldn't figure out where he was by the mid morning feeding. After lunch I got a call from Steve Matherly of Katy, Texas who I was expecting Saturday. He and his wife Cindy (hope I remembered right) planned to bird their way to a visit their daughter at a cheerleader camp in Northern KY. He was calling from Springfield and wanted to know if the roads were good enough to get here. I hadn't been out so I couldn't tell him much. He decided he would try it. Not knowing where Jeeves was, I decided to put more food in the yard and watch there until they arrived. If I didn't see him there, we could try the field. I saw Jeeves under the bird table a few minutes before the Matherlys arrival. Not long after they started watching, Jeeves appeared in the shrub several feet from the bird table and perched there in the open for quite a while before flying down for some corn. Probably the longest and nearest view any visitors have had of Jeeves. He also made a couple of more appearances after that. I had to ask why, coming from the very heart of Harris's Sparrow normal winter range, they wanted to see Jeeves. Sure, there are plenty of Harris's Sparrows in Texas, but they had not seen one in KY. That's birding in a league beyond my ken. Got a picture of a Fox Sparrow today + Jeeves a few minutes before sunset. https://www.flickr.com/photos/123438032@N04/ Frank Lyne frank@xxxxxxxxxxx - near Dot in Logan County, KY ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============= When posting on BIRDKY, please close posts with your first and last name and your address (city or county). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To post on BIRDKY, send e-mail to: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS website at http://www.birdky.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS Photo Page to view photos of birds recently sighted in Kentucky: http://www.flickr.com/groups/kentucky_ornithological_society/pool * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison.
