At my second stop on the McKee breeding bird survey this morning I heard my
first Chuck-will’s-widow! Two birds were calling, one close by, the other
quite distant. This bird has been at the head of my Kentucky needs list for
a few years. Unfortunately I could only enjoy the experience for a couple
minutes before I had to continue on the survey route.
