My daughter has been telling me that I have a “bird problem”. I’ve told her
that I don’t need to keep a list every day…that I can stop anytime I want! I
decided that I wasn’t going to keep a list today, just to prove it.
Anyway, I was doing my best to ignore the feeders, after work…even though
everybody knows that ANYTHING could show up at this time of year! I was doing
great until an out-of-place piece of trash caught my eye, along the edge of the
south wheat field. I had to make sure that’s what it was…so I grabbed my
binoculars and it turned out to be a Shrike in a berry patch sapling! Off
course I had to get photos and, while I was setting up, I realized there was a
male Towhee under the bushes…and four Field Sparrow and a Chipping Sparrow in
the grass, nearby and before I knew it I’d fallen off the wagon!
Oh, well...I think I can stop any time I want. Meanwhile, today’s list with
photos, follows.
