While working in the yard today, I heard my first Grasshopper Sparrow across the road in the yet to be mowed & yet to be built up former pasture. I also heard and saw my first Ruby-throated Hummingbird. Yesterday was my first Eastern Kingbird and Saturday my first Barn Swallow. (I have not been outside a lot, let alone birding.) My Tree Swallows and Eastern Bluebirds continue their annual feud over the 3 bluebird houses. This year I had my first known apparent battle mortality, a male Bluebird found dead with a partial nest constructed inside one of the houses. That concludes this report.
