I visited the transient ponds at KY 739 and Hall's Store earlier this evening. The recent 4+ inch rain has raised the water level significantly at both locations. Mudbird habitat was gone as were most of the Mudbirds. Birds of interest were as follows: 29-Apr-2011 Logan KY 739 Transient Pond Wood Duck 1 Mallard 6 Blue-winged Teal 5 Pied-billed Grebe 3 American Coot 5 Semipalmated Plover 10 Spotted Sandpiper 1 Lesser Yellowlegs 1 Solitary Sandpiper 1 Other species noted included a Summer Tanager, Wild Turkey, and Killdeer 29-Apr-2011 Logan Hall's Store Transient Pool Solitary Sandpiper 1 Other species noted included Dickcissel and Killdeer.
