This morning a Least Sandpiper joined a Solitary Sandpiper and a Killdeer at my pond. Solitary Sandpipers are regular spring & fall visitors to my ponds, but I rarely see a Least Sandpiper by any farm pond. Farm ponds don't usually have significant mud flats, but mine does now because it's getting low. Seeing a Least Sandpiper is at least one plus to our extended local drought. Maybe I'll see some other shorebirds here if it remains dry.
