Migrant highlights from a trip to the LBL/Dams area on
4 October 2005:

Gadwall 4 at Boyd's Landing/Barkley
Am White Pelican Boyd's
Gr. Egret Scattered w/ 70 at Little River/Barkley
Bald Eagle adult Smithland
Least Sandpiper 25 Little River 25+ Jonathan Creek/Ky
Pectoral Sandpiper 6 Jon
Laughing Gull 2 Smithland juv and ad/2nd yr
Franklin's Gull 1st yr Jon
Lesser Black-backed Gull Kuttawa/Barkley adult
Caspian Tern 90-100 Kuttawa-Boyd's w/50 at Boyd's
Forster's Tern 30 Jon and a few scattered on Barkley

Nice flock of warblers at Boyd's Landing with a number
of Bay-breasted affording a fine study of their
variability in plumage.

There has been a tremendous increase in the past week
in the number of gulls in the area, but only the
reported uncommon species were observed in addition to
Ring-billed and Herring. The level of the lakes is
down and most of the gulls are spending the day on the
mid-lake bars on Barkley.
