Alison and I do not come near any bodies of water on our morning road walk
about 7/10 mile up Wash Gunn Road. Even so, we often encounter a Kingfisher
near or beyond the far end of our farm. I believe Kingfishers nest in tunnels
excavated in banks. While there is no nearby body of water, there is a dirt
berm on the property adjacent to our farm. I haven’t checked the berm out
closely because it was erected as a back stop for a frequently used firing
range. This morning a Kingfisher briefly lit on a power line very near where we
were. Managed to capture it before it flew.
