On my daily cattle check this morning I saw 4 Killdeer apparently foraging for
something atop the frozen surface of middle pond. Couldn’t tell if they were
picking at something embedded within the ice or simply finding windblown seed
or something else atop the surface. Ice was frozen hard enough early in the day
to require cutting holes for the cattle.
Little likelihood of anything unusual attracted to the roadkill deer carcass.
Bridge had dragged the remainder of it directly beside the mailbox this
morning. Didn’t seem like the best place to leave it. Moved it to a spot in the
front yard with a shovel.
Spotted 13 deer near the woods.
