Boone and Dee have early Easter eggs and have hidden them well from curious
eyes. They are well placed behind a rock but I can see parents in
incubating posture from a site that is 1/8 - 1/4 miles away so photos are
lousy. Boone incubated for 3 1/2 hours yesterday after giving Dee a break
and some prey. He then wouldn't leave, much to Dee's apparent
consternation, as she stared, complained, flew by and finally went and took
a cold bath before entering the nesting area to move Boone out. Apparently
we have first-time parents figuring it out pretty well.
The only neighbors able to see the site say they were both there all
winter.
A bunch of lousy photos are here with the titles and captions giving the
details. I was there from 3 pm until sunset. Having forgotten my phone, a
friend became concerned when I couldn't be reached and didn't return to the
ramp and almost called 911 to start a search. Luckily I got back as she
was making a last check at the ramp before calling.
