On behalf of the membership of the Kentucky Ornithological Society, we join
other conservation organizations in urging you not to weaken the Migratory
Bird Treaty Act (MBTA). Allowing the “incidental take” of our declining
birdlife is the wrong move at the wrong time.
Kentucky is a critical migration route for birds, so we are especially aware
of the importance of reducing – not increasing – hazards for migrating birds.
We need to maintain the incentive that the MBTA creates for companies to
consider birds in their planning and operations.
Thank you for your consideration.
