Well, yes, Juncos still here in southeast Muhlenberg County, KY.
While doing some field work yesterday, surrounded by deep hard woods, we
noticed we had 3 Pileated Woodpeckers, from 3 diff directions, at the same time.
But, the highlite of the weekend was a wonderful read this morning in today's
NYT on the value of Oak Trees to Birds, because of all of the caterpillars at
this time of year, hundreds of species!! I thought our KY state tree, the Tulip
Popular was the top caterpillar tree, but this informed article said White Oaks
were number One.

Let me tell you we have our share of mature White Oaks I am proud to tell you,
and the stave mill is not going to get them in our lifetime and maybe never, if
I get our Will right.
