Frank ... at this point I think *all* us will be wanting daily updates!!!

Also ... the Muhlenberg Harris's is in eBird; not sure why it wouldn't show up?
It would be neat to have a two-sparrow race between Jeeves and Little Frankie
to the latest date but I'm not sure anyone will find the other guy again.

At the same time I got this email, I also got an incorrect guess of last

guess. I woulda done it, except that no one is holding a purse to split.
There's also been a May 8 guess. Possible, but seems too perfect for Jeeves
to leave on the 5 month anniversary of his discovery. It would be wrong for
me to guess. I might not look as hard after the date of my guess.
Just looked on ebird to see where other Harris's Sparrows are still being
seen. The Georgia bird hasn't been reported since February. An Ontario and
Pennsylvania bird were both reported a few days ago. I figure I'll make one
more ebird report when I determine after the fact when I see him last. Also,
I don't see a red balloon for Sunday's Muhlenberg County sighting. What's up
with that?

I should have thought of proposing this friendly competition months ago, but
it just occurred to me while reading Frank Lyne's post awhile ago ...

In the spirit of Derby week and our long, storied tradition of wagering on
animals at this time of year here in Kentucky ... I'd like to put out a
friendly wager as to *WHEN* Jeeves will actually be seen for the last time
on his winter territory in Logan County.

At this late date, I suppose it doesn't make sense to try to compile
guesses, but perhaps we can just all follow the progress of our own
individual guesses relative to the following dates:

Our KY late spring dates from the two dozen or so previous reports of
Harris's Sparrow are:

1st place - 6 May 2006 ... the adult some of us saw in southern Daviess Co.

2nd place - 5 May 2004 ... the first-year bird that a few of us saw in
Ballard Co.

3rd place - 4 May 1958 ... an adult at Louisville

4th place - 28 April 2015 ... JEEVES

5th place - 26 April 2001 ... the adult some of us saw in Fulton Co.

So Jeeves is knocking on the door of "being in the money" ... he's coming
down the stretch ... can Frank keep him happy enough with cracked corn and
sunflowers to make it to the wire? ... I'm pretty sure Jeeves has been "on
site" longer than any previous Harris's Sparrow reported in Kentucky and
he's been seen by more people than any other ... now can he achieve the
*TRIPLE CROWN* of becoming the latest to ever be seen in spring ... what
suspense!!!
