the Ohio County Swallow-tailed Kite was still present on Wednesday morning. It
was flying over the high school and the shopping center located to the north of
the school until 10:30 a.m. After that it flew into a grove of trees north of
the shopping center and disappeared.

Google) is an expert on these Kites. We have heard her speak twice at the
Spacecoast Bird Festival. Her team nets and places transmitters on Kites that
track them to Brazil.
The Kites show up in Florida early March, common in Daytona Beach area,
nesting, then starting early July assemble in huge numbers at Lake Woodruff
NWA, and later in July fly to a larger assembly area in the Big Cypress, sw
Florida, accessible only by airplane spotters, before departing to Brazil,
some to Paraguay.
A few years ago very common in the Villages area of Florida where they fed on
insects in canolope fields, but that crop is no.longer grown that area.
