While all of this jaeger watching is fresh in our minds, I thought I'd pass
along some informal but local resources that have been placed on the KOS web
site and KOS Flickr page in the past. I think it is really useful to compare
what we all learned or re-learned this past weekend in reinforcing our
knowledge base for hopefully future sightings!
First is a page that David Roemer created for the old KOS web site with photos
and ID narrative on a Pomarine Jaeger that spent a few days at Freeman Lake,
Hardin Co., in early November 2005. It's kind of interesting to look at a
species that we had in our minds, but that didn't turn out to be anything we
ended up studying well this weekend. In particular the bill of that bird is
quite large compared to the birds this weekend. The link below now resides on
Gary Ritchison's home page because the programmers at EKU have changed some of
the link connections to the photos on the old KOS site ...

Second is a page Gary put up on the old KOS web site that is still accessible
there that I made for the Parasitic and Long-tailed Jaegers that David Roemer
found at Barren River Lake in early September 2011. It is interesting to
compare the pics of those birds with the ones from this weekend. Mary Yandell
took many of the photos at this link ...

Finally is a Flickr link to some images I took of the Sep 2, 2012, Long-tailed
Jaeger above Kentucky Dam that some of us got to see from the Lighthouse
Landing overlook during the passage of the remnants of Hurricane Isaac. That
day was really gray and my photos are underexposed, but a lot of the ID
characters can be seen pretty well ...

Some eBird lists from past jaeger observations also have photos linked or
attached to them that have been interesting to peruse ....
