I'd just like to know where to buy some of those impregnated face masks!

Ah yes, hallucinating paisley birds is what got me into birding in the early

That takes me back. Stripping tobacco does also, but not as pleasantly.

Subject: [birdky] Hallucination?
This morning, beginning a little before 8:00 A.M., I helped my nephew take down
around 600 sticks of tobacco. Then we stripped tobacco until 12:00 P.M. Due to
an abundance of caution and anxiety from a fellow household member who shall
remain nameless, I’ve recently begun wearing an industrial grade mask for
tobacco stripping this year complete with two large filters impregnated with
chemicals intended to neutralize substances a lot more toxic than dust.
As I was driving home, a bird flew by my front windshield on what would have
been an intercept course had I been going a tad faster. It was just slightly
sub robin sized with a swallow like shape and a coloration and pattern which I
would have to describe a paisley apricot. It was in a wooded area and the
mottled light coming though the trees could account for the apparent paisley
pattern. I can’t off hand think of any swallow shaped bird with an apricot
color and am tempted to suspect I was hallucinating.
Must read the microscopic print on the data sheet that came with the mask and
see just what those substances are it’s impregnated with. I bought an
additional mask for my nephew. He wore the one I got for him for a little under
30 seconds before he’d had all he could take of it.
