16 July 2006: David Roemer and I again visited Guthrie Swamp today. The time of day was about 1:00 PM and the temperature was 92 according to a car thermometer. Observed at the NW corner of the Swamp were: 10 Canada Geese, 28 Mallards, 92 Killdeer, 10 Least Sandpipers, 2 Solitary Sandpipers, & 1 Pectoral Sandpiper. Other species observed recently were not observed today. At the South Central viewing area (gated lane) were: app. 20 Canada Geese, 2 Great Blue Herons, and 1 Great Egret. A single Green Heron was observed in the metropolis of Guthrie, about ¼ mile from the edge of the swamp. Other birds of possible interest observed included: 1 Red-tailed Hawk, 2 Turkey Vultures, 2 Yellow-billed Cuckoos, 1 Eastern Kingbird, 1 Eastern Phoebe, 1 Common Yellowthroat, 1 Blue Grosbeak, & An uncounted few Field Sparrows & and uncounted few Indigo Buntings. All birds listed in this report were in Todd County near the Swamp. That concluded this report.
