I am sure that all of us are in similar circumstances with the HOT weather.
Plus, there has been unusual amounts of rain and humidity. As a result our
windows are fogged up on the OUTSIDE very morning. Because of the high water
levels in the Tug Fork of the Big Sandy River, we have had a GREEN HERON
frequenting the mouth of our creek (Julius Fork). In past summers the GREEN
HERONS have been at the river about ½ mile away. In fact they have even
nested there and produced young. Les also saw GREEN HERONS at the golf
course this morning. Other birds seen/heard: GREAT BLUE HERON, EASERN
BLUEBIRDS, SCARLET TANAGERS, KILLDEER, EASTERN TOWHEE, WOOD DUCK, EASTERN
KINGBIRD, BELTED KINGFISHER, DOWNY WOODPECKER, PILEATED WOODPECKER,
RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER, BARN SWALLOWS, RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, BROWN THRASHER,
TUFTED TITMOUSE, CAROLINA WREN, AND OTHERS.
Cheers to all,
Joan of Art and Nature in South Williamson, Pike Co.
