After a long week of work on the farm (I'm now definitely too old to be on a
roof for much of three days . . .) and a *very* cold breeze reducing wind
chills yesterday, I decided to give in to the recliner and sun shining in the
window and take in the final round of the Genesis Open from southern
California. Mark Monroe suggested I "eBird" the coverage . . . :-) Of course
one never knows if bird sounds were piped in or live, but I *think* I got these
all right . . .
Red-shouldered Hawk
Northern flicker
Nanday parakeet (I'm presuming these were Nandays based on range map and eBird
lists)
Black phoebe
Cassin's kingbird (I presume this would be the species of kingbird calling
there during winter?)
American crow
California towhee
Spotted towhee
House finch
I thought I heard the screeches of Great-tailed grackles a couple of times but
it could have been the parakeets?
There was also a Mimid singing occasionally, I presume a No. mockingbird but
not sure it couldn't have been a thrasher?
