It seemed like the right time to set out in search of shorebirds and I was not disappointed. I started counting birds in Fulton County, the majority of them were found in Obion WMA and Long Point. Here are the numbers I physically counted, if you multiply the Lesser Yellowlegs and Pectoral Sandpipers by three it would still be conservative. Semipalmated Plover -1 Greater Yellowlegs - 39 Lesser Yellowlegs - 424 Solitary Sandpiper -17 Western Sandpiper - 1 Least Sandpiper - 26 Baird's Sandpiper - 4 Pectoral Sandpiper - 709 Wilson's Snipe - 1 Other birds of interest were 5 Little Blue Heron, 3 Snowy Egret, 6 Bobolinks, 2 Loggerhead Shrike and 3 baby eagles still in the nest.
