Hello!
Freeman Lake is still very frozen. The few small pools of open water have grown
a bit, but overall the lake is still a solid piece of ice. The dead waterfowl
have almost all been eaten by other animals; I even related an observation to
BPB regarding Coots and Canada Geese eating a dead Mallard Hen! I’m tellin’ you
it was like the bird apocalypse out there! While it is sad to see any animal
dead at least they are feeding others. I found a Red-shouldered Hawk today
eating on several carcasses, and the Crows were busy trying to steal bits from
it.
