Tuesday afternoon I spotted something that didn’t look quite right on the 3rd
light pole from the house. It was a Kestrel, but it was letting its wings sag
down. Temperature was 99 degrees. Maybe sagging wings helps dissipate heat?
Temperature cooled down by 20 degrees after a brief thunderstorm, just in time
for our afternoon walk. We saw 10 Nighthawks on that walk. Previously this year
we had been seeing only one or none each day.
