To give my two cents to this thread: Honestly going into the Appalachians
where both species might occasionally be expected, I had a hard time trying
to decipher if I had willow or Alder flycats as sometimes I would swear I
was hearing that 3rd syllable, but wasn't sure either because of distance
or playing rock and roll too long. One time I thought I heard the pep call
in Jefferson County instead of the whit call, but never heard a bird sing
in this county that I thought was an Alder Flycatcher. It is one of those
things I try to be careful about as I get older and less bent on having
record numbers and more interested in having accurate data. Good luck, and
be careful with identifying tricky species like this.

Sure, I'm giving people I know c**p, but I thought how over the top the
message was would relate an aspect of "tongue in cheek-ness" that would be
received. I'm not sure I've ever typed a sentence calling someone a lush,
for example. This has been the topic of personal discussions with a few of
us lately and I probably should have realized that some would not be clued
in to the tone. People who have been around me for a long time know that
ribbing each other is a major mode of interaction with many of us.
My first post of the morning was direct and without any ambiguity. That's
probably the one I should apologize especially to Michael for.

Why don't you cut that second to the last sentence and "do you people not
