For those of you who bird at Creasey Mahan in Oldham County, this has been
in the news, but I thought I'd share in case folks hadn't seen it or want to
volunteer. The NWS has confirmed an EF1 tornado hit Goshen, but this was
what was posted on Facebook from Creasey Mahan:
After spending the day at the Preserve, I want to share my impressions -
* Creasey Mahan sustained a lot of damage. Five of seven of our buildings
sustained damage. It breaks my heart to see how many mature trees have been
broken or upturned.
* Our loyal volunteers showed up to help or to drop off food for staff and
volunteers (some of whom worked 22 hours out of 24).
* Our neighbors came over to check on us and the property.
* You, our supporters, are asking how you may help. Thank you.
* Together, we can recover!
TO VOLUNTEER-
We would love for you to help us by gathering the many small branches into
piles along the service roads and we will collect and compost them.
Also, if you find debris, like roof tiles, please pile these separately, so
that we may collect them for trash.
ABOVE ALL, please be careful. There are still lots of loose branches that
could fall with a good breeze. The National Weather Service expert suggested
most volunteers wait until Tuesday due to forecasted storms and high winds.
Without question, our tiny staff will need help with the clean-up. We'd also
greatly appreciate donations towards the purchase of new trees.
