When I am near Outer Loop at Jefferson Mall, I drive along the road that
runs between Hobby Lobby and Target to get back home. Driving away from
Outer Loop along this road there are two ponds on the right. The first
usually has a number of geese but, the pond closer to Target seems to
attract other birds. Three weeks ago I saw a Great Blue Heron, this
evening I saw a Night Heron. Both times the birds flew off almost due
west. A few moments ago, my daughter came home and said the Night Heron
was back at the "Target" pond sitting on the chain link fence that
surrounds it.
We have not been quick enough to get pictures of the birds and we have not
been in that area very often lately. Maybe someone closer has seen more of
them. Also, we wonder where they go when they fly west. Someone with more
knowledge of the area may have more information.
