Several folks saw the Clay-colored Sparrow yesterday. I went out to check on
it last evening, but found that my old scope was no longer willing to focus.
So, I’ve been limited to binoculars, and since haven’t been able pick it from
the busy crowd. It was really dead out there this evening, which puzzled me
until a Shrike flew out of the redbud tree, which is next to the hawthorn
that’s been part of home base for the Clay-colored.
I did see our FOS White-throated this evening and Pam Spaulding took an
absolutely lovely photo of our FOS Savannah, yesterday. That means that, since
Friday evening, we've counted 9 Sparrow species in the pond thicket (listed
below).
Pam also reported a Hermit Thrush yesterday, which is also a FOS here.
As I’ve said, I have not been able to confirm that the Clay-colored is still
here, but I think that, considering how long it has already been here, it’s
still a good bet.
