Today was the first session of our MAPS (monitoring avian productivity &
survivorship) program. We processed 39 bird from 6 net lanes. The highlights
were a Mourning Warbler and Magnolia Warbler. Eight healthy recaptures.
Acadian flycatcher, Yellow-breasted chat and Indigo bunting were the top
species. The Henslow’s sparrows were signing at 5am in the field on Sharpe Elva
Road.Several Black-bellied whistling ducks have been seen at the Environmental
Education Recreation Area in the last few weeks.
