Each morning, I double task birding with checking the cattle. This summer has
been so hot, the birding part gets short shrift on most days. This morning was
more pleasant than it has been in a long time. I could look at a bird without
my glasses fogging up. Late summer isn’t too birdy on my place, but there are
certain spots on the route that are birdier than other spots. One such spot is
a power line cut right on my farm boundary. The power company cuts it back
periodically and it remains in a low, shrubby state. This morning I saw most of
the birds in my report at that one spot.
