On Monday April 6 I was able to locate the one pair of Brown-headed Nuthatches
nesting in the same cavity as last year's nesting at the London Ranger Station.
One of the pair was setting in the nest hole while the other was bringing food
at about 10-15 minute intervals. I was able to hear and see the Brown-headed
Nuthatches at the Kentucky State Office Building Grounds, but was not there
long enough to find a nest. The traffic noise was particularly bad there so I
didn't stay long. I also located a new London location where one Brown-headed
Nuthatch was repeatedly going to a half circle hole, that appeared to either be
a nest or a start on one. This individual was digging at the hole, as well as
at a few smaller holes below. All in all a good day. I have photos posted on
the Kentucky Birders Facebook group as well as my own FB group for Ohio,
Indiana and Kentucky Birding.
