Early this morning during coffee time on the carport we had for
entertainment----
2 m and 2 f RBG, one m and one f hummer and several of the brightest
Cardinals, m and f, you have ever seen in the perfect sunlight....plus, brown
thrasher.
I would put up more feeders but having trouble with night critters, believe
squirrels, as do not think our colony of ground hogs can climb a 6 ft tall and
1/ 2 inch dia. bird food pole....I cannot bring myself to get rid of the g
hogs, as after all, they do not do much harm, and eventually they move on.
One thing we did not have was 30 Warblers in one day. That was some incredible
birding the Bells, bpb, and others had the other day. Thanks for that report
from B. Forest, about 2 hours northeast of us. We just do not see anything like
that in our area, except years ago at one of the Drakesboro swamps we did see
30 prothonotary warblers in a short time, our top all time local sighting...but
now that place is solid, very thick, fragmitite swamp canes and probably only
suited for Bitterns and Soras, but we would be pleased to see
those....however...the police consider that road a "hot spot," for assorted
activities, so we do not go there anymore.
Recently, the D'boro mayor has made some remarkable improvements, so real
changes.
