We have had lots of "baby" woodpeckers at our feeders this year. On the 17th
of June, we had a RBWP show up with blood on its face and neck. It seemed to
be fine; just young and learning how to fly. Pictures are attached to my ebird
report (can't figure out how to link it here!). My question is, why was it
bloody? Do these WPs attack siblings in the nest? Could it have been attacked
by a Starling? I have never seen this before so am very curious.
