I just counted 164 Black Vultures as they hurried to roost, above the Red
River, southeast of the house. Timing is everything, and I just happened to
scope that direction in time to see the first one or two trickle across my
field of view. The rest quickly followed in easy-to-count singles and small
pods. I’ve seen them do this before but I’m certain 164 is the high-count, for
here.
