I replied to this message by the email listed and got no acknowledgement. Just
in case my message didn’t go through, I’m replying again through the group. I
passed this info on to a member of the Russellville library staff. He in turn
posted my inquiry on a Facebook forum about Logan County. Unfortunately, the
species name Black Vulture didn’t sink in to him and he simply asked about
knowledge of buzzard nests. That posting has gotten a number of replies. None
entirely solid, but some with fairly specific locations about possible nest
sites.

Hello,
I'm a raptor researcher and graduate student at Murray State University. I'd
like to put out a post on the listserv requesting knowledge of any current or
historic black vulture nests in the state to monitor as a part of my research
of vulture nesting ecology. I can provide any more information if necessary.
Requested post content in quotes:
"Hello,
My name is Phil Kavouriaris and I’m a second-year graduate student at Murray
State University. I’m investigating the nesting ecology and post-fledging
movements of black vultures in Kentucky as a part of my master’s research.
Last spring, I began placing trail cameras at active nests to observe nesting
behaviors and to determine the rate of nest success. I’m reaching out to the
greater birding community here in Kentucky once again to report any current
or historic vulture nests (both black and turkey vultures) so that I can
continue to learn more about these intelligent yet enigmatic birds. The only
requirement is that the nest should be located in Kentucky. I’m tremendously
grateful to those of you who reached out to me last year. Feel free to
forward this information on to any parties to whom this might be of interest.
I can also answer follow-up questions you may have about my research. Please
direct all related communications to the following email address:

or by phone at (270) 288-6097.
Thanks again,
