Birds in/over our tiny slice of yard yesterday Sept. 14
Common Nighthawk - 3
RTHU - zipping about
Double-crested Cormorants - 5
Black and Turkey Vultures
Sharp-shinned Hawk - headed south
Cooper's Hawk (local juv.)
Bald Eagle - 1 adult; 2 juv.
Red-shouldered Hawk -2 (local)
Broad-winged Hawk - 1 in a.m.; 5:25 p.m. 65+ very high, floating in
squadron formation headed south. I first noticed two birds flying together
and as I looked behind them more and more birds appeared. None were
flapping. I didn't get an exact count because I started using binos to
count then switched to naked eye counting so probably missed some in the
transition?
Red-tailed Hawk -2 migrants
Northern Harrier - migrant flying high headed south
White-eyed Vireo - river birch
Philadelphia Vireo
Red-breasted Nuthatch - flyover
Chestnut-sided Warbler - came in to a new "seep" (spring?) in our
neighbor's yard
