JB and I were out there yesterday. Yellow-throated, and parula warblers were
plentiful off the trails over by the ferry crossing. We also had a northern
waterthrush on the opposite bank of the Styx River, singing. We saw and heard
a black and white warbler, and a yellow-rumped warbler. Wildflowers were
fantastic off the Turnhole Bend trail, but not very birdy in the afternoon,
anyway. It wasn’t real crowded, especially in the morning when it was colder.
Today is really warming up, so be careful about social distancing!
On another note, here we had our fos yellow-throated vireo, great looks at a
broad-winged hawk, heading southwest, riding the thermals and a female
yellow-bellied sapsucker. White-throated sparrows still present and singing.
We lost the juncos at least two weeks ago in Northern Franklin County. Be
safe and stay well!
