12-7-03 Location: Short Creek , NW Grayson Co, Ky 25 degrees and the frost on the ground looks like a light covering of snow . I have discovered one redeeming feature for one of the two Bradford Pear trees that I planted as a screen on the north side of my yard. One of these trees has produced a big crop of small berries. 25/30 Cedar Waxwings 2 European Starlings 10 House Finches 3 Robins Feeding on these berries this morning. In addition ,this frenzy of activity has attracted to the tree 2 or 3 Blue Jays and a Chickadee. And the resident Mockingbird became concerned as well but he stayed out of the tree.
