Bill and his wife were the speakers at a Beckham March dinner meeting some
years ago. Their program was a musical duet and they sounded good. At the time
I thought it was strange but you know what, after all these years I still
remember that evening. Bill was a credit to the bird world and we will miss his
smile and good humor.

I only got to meet and bird with Bill the one time at KOS, and like the rest
of you, was glad to have gotten to know him a little bit. The next day, we
had a nice chat before he left for his next engagement, but shared a moment
with a preening Blackpoll Warbler nearby. The pics I took of that bird now
remind me of Bill. Condolences to his family and friends.
This week, we birders from Florida also lost an old friend John Hintermister.
Some of you may know John, a long-time Gainesville birder who was a charter
member of Alachua Audubon.
Both Bill and John are missed.

that he spoke a few years ago at the spring KOS meeting. I met him twice in
the 90’s, and he encouraged me to bird socially instead of by myself. I will
miss his articles and Facebook posts.
