Kentucky birders,

I just wanted to pass on the results of our 2022 barn owl inventory.  We
recorded 136 barn owl nesting pairs and 31 non-breeding locations in Kentucky
during 2022.   This was a lot more barn owls than we've found during past
efforts!  We are glad to see the species is increasing in Kentucky.  About half
of the nests and roosts were in nest boxes provided by KDFWR.  More details

Thanks to all who supported the barn owl project this year!  This effort is
significant and thus occurs once every 3 years.  In the meantime, please feel
free to pass on info to me regarding nest locations and we're also still
looking for barn owl specimens [e.g. freshly dead roadkills] for our
contaminants/disease surveillance.
