The day took a turn for the worse when we drove to Springfield TN. We
stopped at Lowe’s. First time to shop inside in more than a year. We had
our vaccinations some while back. When we began leaving, car felt a little
rough. Got out and discovered a flat tire. Driver behind us had seen it too
and was trying to wave us down. When I pulled back into a parking spot, he
pulled up beside us and insisted on helping to change the tire. He also
pointed out that there was a Firestone service center right next door.
Technician there told us that he couldn’t legally patch a tire beyond a
certain age. I didn’t know there was such a rule. No matter. The day was
young. All 4 tires had very little tread left, so I bought a whole new set.
Didn’t see much in the way of bird life while waiting on the car, but there
was a tiny undisturbed patch of ground beside the parking lot with a few
interesting native plants, including lyre-leaf sage.
